"TIES: Rebelling Against Low Expectations..."

On Saturday, January 14th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Covenant
Baptist Church hosted a FREE special workshop entitled, “TIES:
Rebelling Against Low Expectations.” TIES is an outreach program that
has as its mission to empower, engage, and stimulate young men with
tough talk and conversation about their lives and the life skills they
need to survive. The program is committed to building young men to be
the successful individuals they were born to be. Our TIES Facilitator, Bro. "Pearls of Great Price" Luncheon...

In honor of our 60th Church Anniversary, Covenant held a special luncheon on Saturday, October 29th, 2016, "Pearls of Great Price: Words of Wisdom From our Elder Mothers."
(From left to right on stage) Mother(s) Irene Robertson, Edwina Moss, Catherine Johnson, Juanita Jett, Sandra Gilbert and Almira Byrd responded to questions regarding lessons learned in life, faith in the midst of trials, handling disappointment, chastity, boundaries, self-esteem, life, love, single living and marriage. Their words were filled with wisdom, seasoned with salt and articulated with honesty and grace. Ladies and gentleman from all ages listened, laughed, cried and asked questions as they sat on the edges of their seats, gleaning nuggets of great truths from these "Pearls of Great Price!"
Each Pearl received a gift bag with a plaque and a personalized white, cotton lace handkerchief, embroidered with the phrase, "Our Pearl of Great Price" and their name, "Covenant Baptist Church" and the date.

Covenant Baptist Church joins with other faith based organizations to support Tri-C's "Interfaith Community Initiative..."

(Excerpt from Cuyahoga Community College online brochure...)
Cuyahoga Community College’s (Tri-C)
Interfaith Community Service Initiative was created to raise awareness of educational and workforce development opportunities among members of faith- based communities.
The Whitehouse has emphasized interfaith cooperation and community service as an important way to build understanding between different communities and contribute to the common good. The White House has invited all institutions of higher learning to join this powerful movement.*
Many local faith leaders have expressed a desire to improve the quality of life in our region, and this is one way that a successful partnership can accomplish that goal. Individuals who receive information about education and jobs in a familiar setting are more likely to finish high school, a GED, college or a workforce program.
Through the Office of College Pathway Programs, Tri-C works to promote academic opportunities, workforce development, and innovative and culturally relevant experiences necessary for success and completion of high school and college.
“When faith-based organizations join with institutions such as Tri-C to support equal opportunities for higher learning experiences, we fulfill the moral mandate to ‘do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God’ (Micah 6:8).

Pastor Chris and "1st G" invited to travel to the Holy Land, Israel...

We visited "Pantry Packers" a place where volunteers can go and package and box food supplies for the needy in the Jewish community. We participated "assembly line style" by preparing labels, filling, sealing and boxing bags of rice. We also visited a home for Jewish Ethiopian Girls...girls who without the support of the home would be homeless, abused and neglected. To view pictures, visit our Photo Gallery.
